Senate Bill 112 Internship

Hello Advocates!

Staring on May 25th, we kicked off our 2015 Matthew's Bill Internship. The students involved in the internship are Maggie Moreda, Josh Wells, Alex Helton, Adam Robinson, and Alex Smith. These five students are juniors at DRSS and they have been supporting Matthew’s Bill ever since they first met Matthew back in September of 2014. These students took a part in testifying at the state house in November of 2014 and they are very knowledgeable about the Bill. Over the next few weeks these students will be doing as much work as possible in order to prepare for our next testimony. Senate Bill 343 died in the Oversight and Reform committee, but is now being introduced in the State and Local Government Committee as Senate Bill 112. These interns will be contacting the senators who will be sitting on the committee, gaining outside support from local and state wide businesses, and revising the bill by proposing potential amendments to the bill. These students hope to get a lot of work done in the next few weeks and they plan on making a huge difference in their community.
